The late Archie Hollis MacDugal was a prominent member of Cannon Company 143d and the late General Wiley Stem commanded Cannon Company 143d Inf. I knew both of these gentlemen as a child and served with both of them when I joined the Texas Army National Guard. I lived across the street from General Stem when I was in elementary school for a while. I've scanned the article if you would like to read it. It's really interesting.........where he trained, going to Oran, landing in Paestum and the battle that ensued there. Next week should be part 2 of the interview.

In looking through the roster, Seth Groce was in the same Cannon Company with Larry Simpson. Strangely enough, someone sent me a newspaper article from the Bryan-College Station Eagle newspaper, dated Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008. The newspaper is doing a series of tributes to members of 'The Greatest Generation' who served our country during World War II. It is titled 'Brazos Valley Heroes'.

The roster of the 36th division is in the back of the book, The Fighting 36th, a Pictorial History, The Texas Division in Combat. That part of the book isn't online. I don't have a scanner to copy the page for email, but maybe someone else here could help out if you want a copy of that page. the book also pops up on ebay occasionally.

I found, Simpson, Laurence E. T.-Sgt 12 Goss St. Princeton Ill. on P.92 of the division roster in Cannon Co of the 143rd Infantry Regiment. The right one?

My father, Larry Simpson, from Ill, was in the 36th Infantry during WWII. I am trying to find more info, Which Unit, Unit rosters anything that can educate me on his tour in WWII. Any help is appreciated. Signed his son and fellow military man.
