John Dahlquist awarding my Grandfather, Flavio Torres, the silver star for something he did during action on 24 August 1944 somewhere in France.  I know this date was about 9 days after the 36th participated in the invasion of southern France, but if any one has any additional information on this date, or happens to know anything about this battle, I would appreciate hearing from you! 			<description><![CDATA[ OK, Frank was in E-141 2nd Bn. and I was in L-141 3rd Bn. I do know the 3rd did not get to Crest until the afternoon of 25 Aig. 44. Then we moved out into the Rhone-Drome valley.that night. <br> On 24 Aig. we were back in the foothills of the Alos. west of Crest. That afternoon our Bn. in reserve and was hit by 88 cannon fire. we lost a Platoon Sgt and several wounded. it was isolated fire. not involved in an action. All I can say is the other 2 bn.s 1st qnd 2nd mocved on up beofore we did. ]]></description>
