The issue documents the tragic murder of Lt. Col. Jose Enrique de la Pena by a fellow officer in 1840, the military service record of Col. Jose V. Mion that mentions the Alamo, and letters of various officers in support of the conduct of Gen. Ramirez y Sesma in the Texas campaign.
Author Borroel continues the tradition of Carlos Castaneda and Jack Jackson in presenting the thesis that through the eyes of contemporary onsite participants, the unsung individual heroes of historic events relative to the mythical hero worship of those in leadership positions and secondary interpretations of their observations, we can learn much more about ourselves, the human condition, and contemporary events.
The lives and fate of Davy Crockett, de la Pena and Gen. Sesma and for that matter Texas and current Mexico were intimately intertwined beginning in 1836 and continuing to the present.
