Dear all,
Yesterday with Gerome, we met for the third time Jean Helfiger, the man who guide the 141st for the Moselle crossing on september 1944. He explained us that it
was colonels Simpson and Saint-Clair who organised with him in their PC this operation.
Does anybody have informations about those two officers (photos) ?
And about Arthur Rodgers (who recently died), this sergeant was the first to cross the Moselle with Jean Helfiger.

Oh yes, it was an interesting day, yesterday ! Jean is someone very pleasant, and have a lot of respect for our liberators, and family. It is very interesting to hear him relates us this nice story, he is moving. He keeps a very good and warm souvenir of the nice guys of the 141st. Dear sir,
Thanks for your help. I searched yesterday some informations about those officers. I found that Lt colonel Victor Sinclair (from san Antonio Tx.) was commanding the 1st Bat. of the 141st but I didn't got others informations or pictures. So I notice that the FFI's informations were rights : the 1st and 3rd Bat. crossed the Moselle between Eloyes and Remiremont. The other name he mentionned is more surprising : Simpson. I founded an officier : Lt colonel Everett S. Simpson but he was commanding the3rd Bat. of the 142nd... Mr Helfiger feels not a lyer and I don't understand why this man was there ? The 142nd should be at Remiremont ! Your help is welcome for history. Hervé from Vosges. |
