I found, Simpson, Laurence E. T.-Sgt 12 Goss St. Princeton Ill. on P.92 of the division roster in Cannon Co of the 143rd Infantry Regiment. The right one? There is a lot of info on the division at. http://www.texasmilitaryforcesmuseum.org/gallery/36div.htm Bob K, son of a T-Patcher |

In looking through the roster, Seth Groce was in the same Cannon Company with Larry Simpson. Strangely enough, someone sent me a newspaper article from the
Bryan-College Station Eagle newspaper, dated Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008. The newspaper is doing a series of tributes to members of 'The Greatest
Generation' who served our country during World War II. It is titled 'Brazos Valley Heroes'.
The article was an interview with Mr. Seth Groce. I made a contact and got Mr. Groce's phone number.......I have left a message for him. It would be amazing if he remembers Larry Simpson. pstickle Daughter of T Patcher William G. "Gregg" Wiley, 141st I |

I've scanned the article if you would like to read it. It's really interesting.........where he trained, going to Oran, landing in Paestum and the
battle that ensued there. Next week should be part 2 of the interview.

The late Archie Hollis MacDugal was a prominent member of Cannon Company 143d and the late General Wiley Stem commanded Cannon Company 143d Inf. I knew both
of these gentlemen as a child and served with both of them when I joined the Texas Army National Guard. I lived across the street from General Stem when I was
in elementary school for a while. You might contact Roland Duty who posts here (owns Poppa Rollos Pizza, Waco TX) and he may have other contacts in the 143d
Association in the Waco (Central Texas) area who served with Cannon Company. I have seen a Photo of one section in Cannon Company making an amphibious
assault. Hollis MacDugal can be seen in the movie San Pietro using binoculars to direct fire on an enemy position. He received a Silver Star for his World
War II actions. Try contacting Roland and see if he can advise.
I remain, very respectfully, A proud paratrooper as a member of both 1st and 3d Bn 143d Inf and a retired member of the US Army Special Forces, SGM (Ret) Ron Graves (still close to the fight) |
