Hello Emily:
Your Uncle was probably KIA in Alsace, France in the general vicinity of Ribeauville. The Germans were counter-attacking and there was fighting in Guemar, Bennwihr, and Hill 351(overlooking Sigolsheim). 2/141 was moved to the right flank of the 143 on Dember 7, 1944. More German attacks the next day, the day your uncle was killed.
You might make a second post asking for more specifics from someone who has the 141st After Action Reports. They may help you narrow down 2nd Battalion's positions and more specifically the position of Company "H".
My father was wounded at about this time. Hill 351 in Alsace is very beautiful; there is a memorial there to the GI's who lost their lives to liberate Alsace. Should you ever plan to visit Alsace, let me know; my family knows an excellent English-speaking guide, who will help you find what you are looking for. The 36th liberated her mother's village, and she is very grateful to 36th vets and their families. Best wishes.
