Our Papa was buried today. Military Honors were held at the cemetery. The ceremony was beautiful, emotional, tearful and filled me with pride for
Papa's accomplishments.
The cemetery staff informed us that Papa is entitled to a marker from the VA. I've got the name, rank, branch of service, religious symbol, dates and
medal documentation ready. What I am having difficulty with is the proper phrasing for the engraving at the bottom of the marker.
Papa was 36th Division, 141st Regiment, 2nd Battalion, G Company, what would be the proper short form of this?
I would also like to make note of his Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, EAME with 4 Battle Stars, Victory Medal and CIB.
How do I go about this? Are there acceptable short forms when listing his medals?
Do I put T-Patch or T-Patcher?
I know someone out there has been through this before and will have oodles of good advice for me....
