In addition to our dedicated docents we also desperately need volunteers in the following areas:

Military Weapons Conservation:
For ongoing maintenance and cleaning of small arms.

Clothing Storage and Conservation:
We are searching for a dependable, responsible person to become Curator of Clothing and Accoutrements.

Motor Vehicle Services:
Individuals to help the Vehicle Maintenance Crew work on military vehicles.

Exhibit Construction:
Our Museum is unique because we regularly change and update our exhibits. So if you can paint, scrape, saw or turn a wrench this is for you.

Leather Conservation:
We need volunteers to learn how to conserve our leather items. This is an ongoing program and needs volunteers.

Artifacts Storage, Classification and Conservation:
We are searching for individuals to help us find things in our extensive collection of artifacts that is growing larger every month.

Administrative Volunteers:
Typing, filing, editing, correcting, data entry, and greeting the public, answering the phone are all tasks that will free the Director and staff from routine duties. A particular need is help with the newsletters and flyers.

If any of these volunteer activities sound interesting to you, call 512-782-5770 and talk to Col (Ret) Pat Simpson about volunteering. [ email: museum@tx.ngb.army.mil ] If you know of someone that would be a good volunteer have them contact us. We can also schedule service projects for Gold Award Candidates, Eagle Scout Candidates, and High School Students.

Volunteers can work as little as 4 hours a month or as many hours as they want.

The BG John C.L. Scribner Texas Military Forces Museum is located on Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.
