On the night of October 10, 1840, the illustrious, but sad life of, Lt. Col., Don Jose Enrique de la Pena was ended forever, by being murdered on a street corner by a fellow officer named, Mr. Cosio. De la Pena was the man who had kept a daily journal while he was an officer in the Texas campaign. He witnessed the death of Davy Crockett, after Crockett had surrendered to the Mexican soldiery at the Alamo. De la Pena(1807-1840), a brillant life, but a misunderstood man, both in Texas and in Mexico.
